Teach hot yoga, inspire students & change lives.
Start a new career as a certified yoga teacher.

Dear Yoga Student,

Let me guess… you’re a hot yoga junkie?

You practice yoga just about every day, you hang out in the yoga section of the bookstore, and at work you spend most of your time surfing yoga web sites. Sound familiar?

Don’t worry, we’ve been there.

When I first discovered hot yoga, I remember sneaking out of the office early just to catch my favorite teacher’s classes. Very quickly, I realized that I was starting to see life differently, and there was no point in fighting it any longer.

Within a few short months, yoga became the most important focus in my life. As crazy as it seemed at the time, I quit my job and became a Yoga Alliance certified teacher. The rest is history.

But I was so nervous!

When I enrolled in my first yoga teacher training, I had a “good” corporate job in publishing. Yoga had only been in my life for a short period of time when I left it all behind. But the transformation I saw in myself was so worth it.

When I began, my body was stiff and I wasn’t confident I could complete the training. To my surprise, teacher training actually made me a much better student. Quickly, I learned that passion and hard work is the recipe to shape the life of your dreams.

After one month of intense practice and study, I felt stronger and healthier than ever before in my life. Most importantly, I was in a position where I could truly inspire students as well as demonstrate my employability.

If you would have told me back when I first started that I would someday become a teacher trainer and operate my own studios in three different countries, teaching more than 10,000 students… I would have laughed out loud.

But this is exactly what’s happened to me. Stories like mine are becoming increasingly common for students coming out of our training academy. Yoga is booming. There’s a huge demand for skilled and passionate teachers worldwide.

Do you love yoga and are excited to share your passion with the world? Do you like the idea of earning a full-time salary working part-time hours? Do you yearn to travel and surround yourself with health-conscious, open-minded people?

Then you have come to the right place!

Top 5 Reasons to Teach Yoga

  1. Inspire Students & Change Lives – Few jobs provide an opportunity to impact the lives of so many people on a daily basis. With teaching yoga, you are given the opportunity to inspire classes of students every day. Passion mixed with impactful practice provides an amazing gift that is a rare and rewarding job to have.
  2. Deepen Your Practice – Yoga students come to class looking for guidance, but they also give back an incredible amount of energy and insight. You’ll be amazed how frequently you’ll find yourself learning from students.
  3. Enjoy a Flexible Schedule – Most yoga teachers work for 3 or 4 hours per day, and the rest of the time is yours to do as you please. If you’re like me, you have tons of other interests in life that you haven’t had time to pursue. You’ve been working full time, often in a job that you hate. After I started teaching yoga, I finally had time to do freelance writing for magazines, learn guitar, and I even wrote a novel.
  4. Earn a Good Salary – Years ago, most yoga teachers hardly earned enough to get by. Today, Yoga Alliance certified yoga teachers are highly specialized and highly valued. Personally, I never imagined that I’d teach in five different countries and then own my own studios—but that’s exactly what happened. The world is a big place, but the yoga community is very small. As a yoga teacher, you’ll quickly connect with studios and teachers all over the world and opportunities will reveal themselves organically.
  5. Live & Breathe Yoga – Let’s face it, living a healthy lifestyle is not easy. Surrounding yourself with people who live a healthy lifestyle is even harder. When I started down the path of yoga, all my old friends were living very toxic lifestyles. When I became a yoga teacher, that all changed. Like me, my new friends and co-workers loved yoga were committed to healthy living. I never realized how powerful it is having a positive support group. For many teachers, this begins a revolution in their personal health and lifestyle. The best time to train to teach is when you’re most excited about yoga. Passion and enthusiasm are the key ingredients for success. Personal practice is always growing, and the decision to make this practice into a profession should evolve from your own personal motivation. If you’re excited now, then there is no better time to take initiative.

Become an Effective Teacher

The yoga training industry is very strange in that most teacher training courses do not actually teach you how to teach. If you talk to any yoga studio owner, you’ll find they rarely hire new graduates. In most cases, new grads from most schools are just not ready to teach a class yet.

With Absolute Yoga, we take a completely different approach—100 percent practical and career focused. Our graduates are qualified, competent, and employable from the day they leave our school.

Studios all over the world come to us to recruit our graduates to teach in their studios. At the end of each course, we get calls and emails from studios wanting to hire our teachers. Absolute Yoga continues to recruit our own teachers directly from our own graduating classes as well.

Remember, Absolute Yoga Academy started as a professional training school for our own staffing needs—and that hasn’t changed. Our course is 100 percent practical. Our graduates are ready and able to teach the moment they leave the course.

You’ll experience a transformational journey. To go from never teaching a course on day one, to a master in the classroom- is a huge accomplishment. You’ll not only be able to teach, you’ll believe in yourself to teach. You will master our 50-pose sequence, the anatomy, instructions and modifications, and have the confidence to teach it to others.

Absolute Hot Yoga Series

Let’s get sweaty! Absolute Hot Yoga is a high-energy series of 50 classic yoga poses in a fixed sequence that promotes balance, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness. The heat allows you to stretch deeply, cleanse the body, and calm the mind.

One of the unique things about the Absolute’s Hot Series is that it’s great for beginners, intermediate and even advanced students. The series can be adapted to all levels, so it doesn’t get boring.

As a teacher, one of the big challenges with some classic Hot Yoga sequences is that students “outgrow” the series and stop coming to class after 6-12 months. Absolute Hot Yoga is different. It was designed with the lifetime student in mind, so we see students engaged and excited about Absolute Hot yoga Yoga 2-3x as long as most Hot Yoga series.

Adjust, Adapt, Modify

VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS & VOCAL SKILLS – Are you shy? Are you afraid to speak in front of people? Don’t worry. You’re going to become a pro at public speaking. Our teaching team has spent 6 years developing a foolproof system that turns anyone into a great teacher in a matter of days. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never taught anyone anything in your whole life. With our system, you can learn to be effective.

Thinking on your feet is a huge part of being a yoga teacher. Sometimes you’ll need to use your voice to keep control of the class, and other times you may need to physically assist a student in and out of a posture. You’ll learn the how’s and when’s of helping and modifying- so everyone has a safe and uplifting experience. This is the real “art of teaching”.

KRIYAS, PRANAYAMA, MEDITATION – There’s more to learn than just yoga poses. Throughout the training, we’ll practice powerful yogic techniques for cleansing and purifying the body (kriyas). We will look in depth at breathing exercises (pranayama) that will soothe the nerves and focus the mind. At our evening meditation, we’ll sit together as a group and practice stillness- the most challenging yoga practice of all.

Learn the real history of yoga and its true meaning. The yoga we all know and love today is very different than the spiritual practices of India. As a yoga teacher, it’s important to know the history and belief system that started this powerful practice we now love.

ANATOMY OF YOGA – Head, shoulders, knees, and toes… When we practice yoga, we become hyper-aware of our bodies, our imbalances, our weaknesses, and our strengths. The study of anatomy, specifically as it relates to yoga, will help you gain a deeper understanding of what’s happening beneath the skin. This is vital to avoid injury, modify poses safely, and teach with confidence.

THE BUSINESS OF YOGA – So now that you’re ready to teach, what’s next? During the last week of the training, you’ll learn how to apply for jobs, how to write a yoga resume, and where to look for work. This introduction to the business of yoga will put you miles ahead of other teachers in your area helping you to land a great job quickly.

At Absolute Yoga, we pride ourselves on having the lowest student-to-teach ratio in the industry. While most trainings have 30, 40, or even 80 students for each teacher, we insist on a 10-to-1 student to teacher ratio. This means you get a gargantuan amount of personalized attention. With this kind of focus, you’ll learn different styles and approaches based on your individual personality.

When you’re researching training courses, the training team should be your number one priority. Most training courses are led by just one instructor, often a self-proclaimed “guru.” At Absolute’s Hot Yoga Teacher Training, there are a minimum of 2 core teachers throughout the course. There’s also a minimum of 2 guest teachers that bringing with them thousands of hours of teaching experience and dozens of different skill sets.

NOTE: All Absolute Yoga Training staff have 1000-4000 teaching hours experience. That experience provides them with unparalleled knowledge as trainers.
